As a very young kid, I used to be inspired by the rugby players who I watched playing at the weekend. Later I was inspired by my granddad who loved watching documentaries on TV and would tell us all about the things he’d learned and his experiences in life. He was the person who gave me a thirst for knowledge and inspired me to study everything I enjoyed learning about.

My stepdad was a huge source of inspiration, he had a thirst for scientific knowledge. We would talk about all sorts of theories.

I might not have realised it at the time, but when I was studying for my A-levels I had two amazing physics teachers who were really inspirational to me. One of them in particular, Mr. Caulkin, was a fantastic teacher. Four students from my old class now have PhDs in different types of phyics, and Mr. Caulkin has an MBE from Prince Charles!
