Good question. I don’t think much about creating things outside of the laboratory. It’s always just thinking about the next particle detector that we need, or a new computer code for controlling the experiment.

I hope that we can create more enthusiastic young scientists. Then by passing on our knowledge to the next generation, it might be you or somebody in your class that creates the next new exciting thing for the world to enjoy!

For the last few years, I’ve been working with scientists from across the globe to build a new experiment at CERN in Switzerland. If everything goes to plan, our experiment will test whether antimatter falls up or down because of the Earth’s gravity. It’s very unlikely, but our project could even discover something totally new like anti-gravity when it’s up and running!

To do its job properly, our machine will have some pretty amazing features. The main part of it will be about as tall as a two-story house, with parts that are about as cold and empty as outer space. I can’t wait to see if it works when we’ve finished building it! 🙂

This is a really good question. I guess, being part of a team that creates a new cancer treatment in nuclear medicine therapy would be the ultimate goal of mine. How feasible it is, I don’t know! I will have to think some more about this.
